Ask Away!
What areas do you service?
We are licensed to service anyone in the state of Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington! However, for face-to-face services, services are available in and surrounding Boca Raton, Florida at your home or child's school/daycare so they may be most comfortable to learn in their natural environment.
How does this process work?
First, your child will be assessed in a comprehensive evaluation. This can be done in person or online. A comprehensive evaluation includes parent interview, child observation, and testing your child's receptive language, expressive language, articulation/speech, fluency, voice, pragmatic/social skills, and feeding skills. A diagnosis will be made and an interpretation and recommendations will be included with testing information. After the evaluation is complete, you first therapy session will be scheduled. During the first session, your chid's results will be explained and their Plan of Care will be discussed further. Duration and frequency of sessions will be recommended and a schedule will be made for recurring appointments. In about 6 months, or as needed, a re-evaluation will determine and explain your child's progress.
Should I try teletherapy?
Teletherapy isn't for every child but it is much more engaging than you'd think! If your child enjoys watching shows, music, or playing games on any screen (like most children in this day and age), chances are they will do well with teletherapy. Teletherapy is fun, interactive, engaging, and can be less distractive than in-person therapy. Unlike virtual school, a teletherapy session can be quickly adapted if your child shows disinterest or needs something extra (more time, visuals, etc.).
Teletherapy is also great for caregiver and family education to increase carryover in the home. With coaching via teletherapy, you essentially can learn how to improve your child's communication at home without me even being there! Teletherapy is great for patients and families that need more flexibility. It is much easier to reschedule. Read more about the effectiveness of teletherapy here
How do I pay? Do you take insurance?
Payment is due at the time services are rendered and may be made via cash, debit/credit, or HSA/FSA card through secure HIPPA-compliant payment. The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA), formerly known as The Gardiner Scholarship, is also accepted. Speech Eat Learn is solely private pay in order to spend appropriate time planning, driving to, and providing best quality of care for your child without having to deal with the hassle of insurance. Recommendations are always honest and given with professional judgement rather than being based on what little insurance covers. An itemized bill/superbill may be provided to families upon request to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement. Please understand that the necessary paperwork will be provided but you are fully responsible to submit and communicate with the insurance company. See private pay parent guide for more information (contact us for password).
Do you speak Spanish?
Some of the therapists do! Depending on your child's needs, we are able to teach and work with your kids! We are more than comfortable, confident, and competent to improve the language and articulation of Spanish speaking children. We are advocates for bilingual speech and language acquisition and have studied bilingualism across contexts! Please teach your kids both languages if you speak them at home! ]
What is your cancellation policy or what if IÂ cannot commit to recurring appointments?
It is more than understandable that things happen and we always try to be flexible. However, we ask that you respect your therapist's time an give a 24 hours notice. Thoughtful time is spent planning your child's session and giving notice allows us to prioritize other children who need services. Sessions do not need to be recurring but should be planned in advance.
